Ziggy Marley - Love Is My Religion

Comments: I saw this album in Target and was instantly interested. I dig Bob Marley & Damian Marley, so I figured why the fuck not check out some Ziggy Marley. I was intrigued further when I noticed a sticker relaying that this particular album was only available at Target. At only $10 it was a nice price, but the "religion" in the title scared me. I was definitely not buying this muthafuckah if it was finna be all "Praise Jesus" bullshit. Fortunately, Mr. Marley was playing here in Santa Rosa that very weekend (unfortunately I didn't have any money for tickets, I also missed Tech N9ne a month or two ago. FUCK!!!!!!!!!) so he got a nice write-up in the paper. It turns out to be exactly the opposite of my fears. Appearantly Ziggy Marley feels the idea of "gods" isn't universal and doesn't appeal to all people, but love is something to which everyone can relate, thus could be something that could bring people together, as opposed to religion that causes much more chaos than it relieves. In the title track he even sights the short-comings of religion with lyrics like "I don't condemn, I don't convert, this is a calling have you heard bring all the lovers to the fold, 'cause no one is gonna lose their soul." So it actually turned out to be a very good album.

            The only thing I don't like about this album is there are a few lines that don't agree with me. One from "Love Is My Religion": "I don't want to fight, hey let's go fly a kite." I know what he's saying and it's a good thing, but I don't like the way he worded it. The second is from "A Lifetime": "like the lamb I will sacrifice to find you". Lambs don't sacrifice they get sacrificed. It just doesn't work for me. Those are obviously very small things, so go get the fuckin' album. I have provided links below.
