Comments: I was pleasantly surprised by this album. It's been a while since Snoop has given us consecutive quality albums. After the exceptional quality of Tha Blue Carpet Treatment and amid reports of this being an R&B album with guests like Janet Jackson, R. Kelly & Justin Timberland, not that Janet Jackson & R. Kelly would be poor quality guests, I expected another Pop record along the lines of the horrible R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece. I've liked "Sexual Eruption" since I first heard it, so I knew there was at least one bright spot. Anyway, I obviously copped it and I have enjoyed my first few listens. I'm still not too sure about Everlast-assisted "My Medicine." This album is definitely on the softer side compared to some of Snoop's more gangsta efforts, but it remains "Cool" without going pop. Another surprise is it's also predominately Snoop on the vocals. It's not uncommon for Snoop to load up on features, especially his last album, the aforementioned Tha Blue Carpet Treatment. Here, the majority of the guests are in reduced rolls, such as hooks and/or backing vocals, which should work well for those who want to hear Snoop do his thing. The best songs are 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 (a remake of The Time's classic), 10, 17 & 21. - D (12:47 PM 3/26/2008)
