Singer, songwriter, and producer Miguel spent a handful of years behind the scenes, helping to create hits for others before he released his own hit single, “All I Want Is You,” in 2010. Born Miguel Jontel Pimentel in Los Angeles, CA, Miguel worked on various projects for smaller labels and underground hip-hop artists like J Dilla and Exile, sometimes using the name Jontel. In 2007 he was called up to the big leagues by the Jive label, and a year later would be contributing his songwriting skills to Usher's album Here I Stand. Work for Asher Roth (2009’s Asleep In The Bread Aisle) and more work for Usher (2010’s Raymond V Raymond) would follow along with Miguel’s 2010 mixtape, Mischief. With its title track doubling as its lead single, his All I Want Is You album landed that same year. - David Jeffries
