I can't find much written about D.R.S. (an acronym for Dirty Rotten Skoundrels), but I do know that they released their first album, Gangsta Lean, in 1993. They did have some success with the first single, the title track. They were one of the first to combine singing with gangsta rap lyrics. Overall the album was too violent and graphic (think Brotha Lynch Hung's Season Of Da Siccness or early Geto Boys) for widespread mainstream success. They came back in 1996 with two less members, now calling themselves Jackers. As Jackers they released Down 4 Life, which was very toned down compared to Gangsta Lean. Down 4 Life still had a gangsta feel (like Nate Dogg or TQ), it just wasn't sick & shocking, which does make for a better listen. The album still wasn't much of a hit. I didn't even hear about until it was rereleased in 2000. That's all I know. - D
