Album Of The Week: June 6, 2011 (#58)
More: George Carlin
Comments: George Carlin was 61 when this was recorded and he occasionally comes off as a cranky old man rambling about "kids these days," but the majority of the performance is composed of the typically brilliant pointed observations. Where Bob Marley sang "emancipate yourself from mental slavery" George Carlin forcefully shoves the concept down your throat, in your eyes, in your ears and up your ass. While this performance is often more rant, politcal and otherwise, than comedy you'll still find many reasons to laugh. "Airport Security" sounds comical now as he goes off about how much people can get through airport security while now we can't even take water. As quite possibly the greatest comic of all-time he deserved your laughter and even when it's not funny you will laugh, like it or not, bitches. - D (10:07 PM 6/4/2011)
